Cushion Concerts Presents Explorer Idol

Audience suitability: K – 12

Before the world was mapped, explorers set out to discover new worlds – to “boldly go where no one had gone before”.  If they succeeded, they became the “idols” of their age – lauded by Kings, Queens, and commoners alike. Explorer Idol introduces six of the greatest Canadian Explorers.  With music styled after “The British Invasion”, William Bligh, James Cook and George Vancouver are the house “band”. It’s a life and death contest to find out which of these six historical “celebrities” can discover the elusive Northwest Passage first. A final vote will determine Canada’s Greatest Explorer.

On February 18th 11 am at The First United Church in White Rock six of the most famous explorers will come to life and so will the story of the great race to discover the Northwest Passage.  “What a fun way to teach kids about our history” says Artistic Director Wendy Bollard.  “I was so excited when I saw what kind of shows the Canadiana Musical Theatre Company was putting together, that I couldn’t wait to bring them out to the Peninsula.  This is the second show of Peninsula Productions Cushion Concerts for Kids. The shows tend to run around 45 minutes and kids are encouraged to bring along a cushion to sit on and to feel free to ask questions after the show.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at Tapestry Music 1335 Johnston Road or online at tickets.surrey.ca or at the church
