Summary
Hazardous winter conditions are expected. A major winter storm will affect the South Coast tonight and Sunday. Mixed rain and snow will develop by this evening and then switch over to snow over most locations overnight as the precipitation intensifies. Precipitation will likely remain as mixed rain and snow at lower elevations of Metro Vancouver. Total snowfall accumlulation will range from just a few cm near the coast to near 20 cm over higher terrain and for inland areas. The snow will change to heavy rain late Sunday as warm Pacific air invades the region. In addition, there will be a risk of freezing rain over the eastern Fraser Valley Sunday evening. Heavy rainfall amounts of more than 50 mm are expected Sunday night through Monday.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Winter Storm Warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.
