Bellingham WA: Cross about cross-border shoppers

Some American neighbors are a bit unhappy with the large number of Canadian shoppers in their community, so they created a Facebook page to complain about needing “Americans Only” time:

We understand their frustration, but we have a solution: Don’t get mad, get even! To our American neighbors: Hop in your cars and come to White Rock Beach in Beautiful British Columbia just over the border. Give us a taste of our own medicine — fill up our parking lots and our stores.

Enjoy our beaches, do some paddle boarding, take a stroll on the famous White Rock pier. There’s limited parking at the beach, so come early to fill up those spots with American license plates — and please, stay all day!

There’s already lines for the great fish & chips at places like Moby Dick’s or Coney Island Fish & Chips. Come early to get to the head of those lines and really drive us Canadians crazy!

Head into town before you leave to fill up your car with Canadian merchandise from the Semiahmoo Mall and other stores. By all means, make Canadians here grumble about the long lines in our stores. Revenge is the best medicine!

And after visiting the lovely community of White Rock Beach, head a little further north and invade Vancouver and the surrounding area. We welcome all of you!
