On the photography side, Ric has mastered lighting, composition, and the ability to see the world from a non-traditional viewpoint. He often incorporates shapes silhouetted in photographs for impact and visual interest. Often when taking a photograph, he thinks more like an artist or an art director than a photographer. Ric doesn’t just see the image before him; he visualizes its future use in a variety of products and/or media. He knows how to attract attention in order to promote his ARTography.

In 2011, he travelled by car three time zones as far west as he could in Canada until he reached Tofino, BC on the west coast of Vancouver Island. He started working his way back in the direction of Ontario and happened to visit White Rock, BC – a place he had never heard of before. With August temperatures of 21 to 23C, White Rock was very appealing compared to southwestern Ontario temperatures of 40 to 50C with humidity and hail storms.
As a bonus, Ric even found they grew palm trees here! Spending just one winter in White Rock convinced Ric to stay and make the west coast his new home. Back in 1995, Ric’s love of nature photography – and, in particular, wildlife – led him to create an entire line of photographs dedicated to white squirrels. He marketed those images locally, but it was time to try online promotion.

And so, it was the white squirrels that created a need for him to learn website design. After 21 years, he is still actively promoting his white squirrel photographs. What he did for the white squirrels, he saw an opportunity for the “white rock” that gave this community its name.

White Rock Beach White Rock, British Columbia Canadawhite-rock-04

The single big WHITE ROCK, that gives the community its name White Rock Beach, is located on the beach near the pier on Semiahmoo Bay between Blaine in Washington State and White Rock in British Columbia, Canada.
It is a unique attraction on its own and comes with its own interesting folklore. Nineteenth-century sailors used this rock as a beacon. The White Rock is visable while entering customs coming into Canada from across the bay. The sight of a single large white rock on a beach is a rare find, and when something is rare, it is often associated with LUCK. Some people even claim to have had luck on the lottery by rubbing their tickets on the 486-tonne boulder resting on the beach. White Rock Beach is the waterfront area of the City of White Rock in the southwest corner of the lower mainland of British Columbia, bordering Washington State.
White Rock Beach is less than 2 hours north of Seattle Washington. The White Rock Beach district runs along Marine Drive and includes a 2.5 km waterfront promenade that overlooks the warm, shallow waters of Semiahmoo Bay. The actual city of White Rock is 45 minutes from Vancouver, BC and minutes from the Canada/USA border. The city dates back to the turn of the 20th century (1900) and has a population of 18,755.(2006).white-rock-01

The area is shared by walkers and joggers of all ages, as well as various wildlife creatures, from gulls and other water birds to rabbits, marmots, seals, and bald eagles. The alternating tides, sunrises, and sunsets provide photographers and artists with fresh daily imagery.

The beautiful sunrises overlooking Mount Baker in Washington State and sunsets overlooking the White Rock pier add to the diversity in imagery. As one long-time permanent resident remarked, “Each sunrise and sunset is different, and I never get tired of looking at them.”white-rock-03

White Rock Beach enjoys far more days of sunshine than the rest of the lower BC mainland. White Rock Beach is also known as “the hole in the sky” by pilots flying overhead who’ve remarked that while often the rest of the lower mainland is under cloud cover, the sky over White Rock is clear, sunny, and cloud free.

The White Rock Hole in the SKY

With the businesses and houses in the area built into the hillside overlooking the water, the White Rock Beach area is often referred to as the Riviera of the west coast (of Canada).white-rock-02
The famous White Rock pier is 1,500 feet long and a favorite tourist spot that often forms the backdrop for wedding photos. Local residents love to stroll along the promenade and out to the end of the pier. Walkers and joggers love to walk right to the end and slap the top railing before heading back to shore — all part of their daily exercise program. The trains that pass through the White Rock Beach area on the railroad tracks running along the promenade by the beach add a distinctive charm to the district. The annual New Year’s Day polar bear swim helps add to the year-round excitement of being in White Rock Beach.

WARNING: White Rock Beach Syndrome may develop by visiting White Rock Beach, which includes NOT wanting to leave and wanting to take up residence here.

Ric Wallace has been restoring photos for years first by using an airbrush and fine tip brushes. With the mainstream use of computers, Ric has disposed of the darkroom equipment and chemicals, and instead uses  computers, digital cameras, high res scanners, and various computer programs, photo printers, mat cutter, etc.

Computers have changed the way things are now done, but the basics or old way things were done gives Ric a Virtual Edge over other people offering Photo Restoration.

Many stores may offer photo restoration as they get someone else to do the work and markup the price. When you hire Ric Wallace you are talking to the organ grinder and not the monkey like at retail stores.

Consider purchasing a DIGITAL EXACT copy of the FINAL HI-RES photo at 300 DPI (JPG) – for an additional fee. (not included with standard packages)
Digital files maybe kept on our storage devices for a limited time and may be deleted without notice after services are rendered and paid in full. Customers who purchased digital files are recommended to have many copies on disk, USB and/or cloud based storage. Digital computer files do not fade or disappear like old negatives or prints. Making prints from-the high res digital files will allow the highest quality image to be printed. Sharing this file means family or friends can look after getting their own prints with their own money, saving you $$$. Using output services such as Walmart, drug stores or home printers will vary in quality.
PLEASE NOTE: We are NOT allowed to copy photographs that have a copyright stamp or symbol on them, such as school photos, team photos, magazines, newspapers, etc. If you have a photo with a stamp on the back please contact the listed person or company for reprints. If the photographer has passed away or the company is out of business we would have to review the situation. Anyone with an original negative film will be considered the lawful owner of the image. Any prints or digital files are your property to do with as you wish, once paid in full. Any future reprints would have to be ordered by you or have your approval in writing.
We need the photo supplied loose -- not framed or behind glass. Photos larger than 8.5" x 11" will have to copied using a camera on a tripod as opposed to scanning on a high resolution flatbed scanner. These will have a higher cost to digitize the image as it is considered a photography service, not a scanning service.
We reserve the right to refuse to copy obscene, offensive, unlawful or objectionable materials. Please contact us for any concerns you may have.
