What is the White Rock Beach Goodwill Ambassador Program?
As defined by Ask.com
Goodwill Ambassador is a collective term sometimes used as a substitute honorific title or a title of honor for an Ambassador of Goodwill; but, most appropriately for a generic recognition, it is a job position or description that is usually indicated following the name of the individual recognized in the position. Goodwill ambassadors generally deliver goodwill or promote ideals from one entity to another, or to a population.
A goodwill ambassador may be an individual from one country who resides in or travels to another country, in a diplomatic mission (or international friendship mission) at a peer to peer level; that is: country to country, state to state, city to city; or, as an intermediary representing the people at the other extreme of an organization.
The gang at WhiteRockBeach.ca have been self-appointed for Goodwill Ambassadors for White Rock Beach, British Columbia CANADA. With the creation of the WhiteRockZone.com site, we will even go as far to say we are Goodwill Ambassadors for a 200 km radius around White Rock Beach, which includes places in Washington State such as Seattle, Washington (our favorite home away from home).
With our Wildlife of Canada series of postcards featuring some White Rock Beach wildlife, we will even say we are acting as Goodwill Ambassadors for Canada as a whole.
We are asking people to share the Spirit of White Rock Beach by sharing White Rock Beach postcards with family, friends, and business acquaintances. If you are going on a trip, why not help promote White Rock Beach by packing some White Rock Beach postcards. Naturally, not everyone can afford vacations to faraway places, but anyone can share them around the globe via Canada Post.
Korki is also a SMILE Therapist and is just a Smile Away. She now has the title of Goodwill Ambassador for White Rock
DISCLAIMER:The White Rock Beach Goodwill Ambassador Program is NOT affiliated with or sponsored by the City of White Rock, the White Rock BIA, Tourism White Rock or any government funded project. This a private venture to tell the world about White Rock Beach, British Columbia, Canada. Letting people know about White Rock, BC could bring financial gain to various businesses located in White Rock and area from tourists or new residents.
Since the creation of the site WhiteRockBeach.ca, we have been featuring the beauty of White Rock Beach and area. Many people have commented that these photos should be on postcards. We decided that doing 2 or 3 postcards would be a waste of time and effort, so we embarked on a series of 30 postcards (now at 80+).
We decided to have some featuring Crescent Beach and even South Surrey as the areas are so close to each other. Hundreds of hours were spent sorting and finding images suitable for postcards. Securing UPC codes for each postcard would allow companies with bar code scanners to sell the postcards. Various methods of displaying these postcards were researched and tried. The task of contacting retailers was also a time consuming effort. Retailers were given the purchase or consignment option for distribution.
One customer who purchased some of our White Rock Beach postcards suggested there should be a White Rock Christmas postcard. With always being open to suggestions, a Season’a Greetings postcard would be more politically correct for the upcoming holiday season. Having never seen a holiday greeting postcard, this is a product with maybe a 60 to 75 day selling season. With a tight economy and a postcard costing less than a single Christmas card, maybe less paper being used (saving trees) could be an incentive for sales.
With the summer tourist season ending, Ric told many of the retailers that he would do one more count before the end of the year, even though he expected sales to have dropped right off. Here was another surprise for him: sales had actually increased from the month prior, and here it was only mid-October. Inventories were topped up and retailers were billed for postcards sold. Many people were picking up our postcards for the holiday season to send to family and friends around the world or to take on their next vacation.
We are looking for other White Rock Beach Goodwill Ambassadors like Dr. John Rogers of the White Rock Dental Clinic. WhiteRockBeach.ca is promoting White Rock Beach globally and our artistic postcards have a Virtual Edge over other postcards on the market. The WhiteRockBeach.ca marketing plan has crossed over to printed media by including some really cool postcards connected to our site. Know of any store you think should be selling them? Tell them to contact us.
This gentleman in Kenya, Africa was very happy to receive a WhiteRockBeach.ca postcard. If you give away some of our postcards on your trip, take some photos of people holding them and contact us — we might put them online.
Recently Dr. John Rogers of the White Rock Dental Clinic made a trip to Kenya, Africa. Before leaving Canada he packed a few WhiteRockBeach.ca postcards as well as some other assorted Vancouver postcards. He thought they could be used to possibly show off Canada to people he might meet in his travels. While visiting the Amboseli National Park near Kilimanjaro in Kenya, Africa he met a group of local residents.
While other tourists had cameras, iPads and iPhones, Dr. John Rogers pulled out some postcards to show where he is from.
With a large crowd gathering to see the postcards, the famous White Rock was the favorite and they wanted it badly. As a goodwill gesture, Dr. John Rogers gave away the one WhiteRockBeach.ca postcard of the BIG WHITE ROCK. With there currently being only one postcard in Kenya of the famous White Rock, it will be a very rare item to have. When something is rare, it can become very valuable and could be traded for something of a lot greater value. With our web address and even a QR code on the back, we expect to be mailing more to Kenya to people who have Internet access. All the WhiteRockBeach.ca postcards were causing excitement.
How do you get a whole tribe in Kenya, Africa dancing with excitement? Give them some postcards from White Rock Beach, BC CANADA!
The postcard of the seagull bird dance was also a source of amazement. Where these people live they have never seen a seagull (or a dancing seagull) in their lifetime. Just imagine living in a mud hut in Africa with no electricity, no internet, TV, etc and a WhiteRockBeach.ca postcard of the famous big White Rock or a dancing seagull hanging on the walls.
If you are a world traveller (or even going to another province or state), why not pick up some WhiteRockBeach.ca postcards from the various postcard retailers or online before your next trip. You might be able to trade them for drinks, dinner, or other local treasures. When Christopher Columbus came to the new world they traded beads and other items for treasures. The Spanish traded nicknacks for Gold and Silver. WhiteRockBeach.ca postcards could be a valuable currency on your next trip. Even if you receive no treasures, a photo of a someone in a foreign land could create some lasting memories and be valued PRICELESS. Who knows — maybe you might make a few new friends.
