Mark Enman is asking Canadians to help him and his siblings give their ailing parents a “Miracle on 34th Street moment” for Christmas.

He’s collecting Christmas cards — as many as possible — from all over Canada and beyond, for his parents, Bev and Don Enman, who’ve both recently developed dementia and been placed in a long-term care home.

“I was on Facebook last Monday just chatting with my sister Dawn who lives in Germany and discussing how our mother loved this time of year and how right now is such a tough time for both of our parents, and wouldn’t it be nice if we could do something to bring a little bit of that joy back?”

Old, torn and sometimes photos in two or more pieces can be restored to their original state or better. Ric Wallace does a high resolution scan from your original image and electronically uses a computer to do the retouching and corrections. High quality photographic prints can be obtained from the computer file. The computer file can be supplied on CD/ DVD, USB, or downloaded from the internet to ensure exact copies can be made for years to come, with no loss in quality like prints made from negatives which will degrade over time.

The gang at White Rock Beach are sending one of our greeting cards with some postcards to the east coast. The people of British Columbia are very generous and you can make this a special Christmas for two seniors on the other coast, for the  cost of a greeting card or a postcard and a stamp. You can purchase some of ours at local retailers, or anyone else’s greeting cards or postcards or send a leftover one you may have.  If you have kids, have them create their own card. We are asking ANYONE in the world to send a card or postcard who reads this posting.
