Rainfall Warning Issued at 4:05 a.m. PST Monday 3 November 2014

Rain, at times heavy, is expected. The ground, already near saturation, has little ability to absorb further rainfall. A strong frontal system will bring rain to the south coast today and the rain will become heavy at times tonight. Rainfall amounts of 50 mm are forecast for the North Shore, northern sections of West Fraser Valley and southern sections of Howe Sound. The heavy rain will taper off to a few showers by Tuesday morning as the front moves away to the south.

Summary

Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring. A developing low over the Pacific will approach the South Coast this evening. Strong southeast winds of 70 to 80 km/h will develop over Metro Vancouver, Greater Victoria, the Southern Gulf Islands, East Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast this evening ahead of the low. Winds will ease overnight as the low moves into the Interior.

Rain, at times heavy, is expected. A Pacific frontal system will move across the South Coast tonight spreading heavy rain to Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley – West region on Monday. Hardest hit areas will be between Port Moody and Maple Ridge where up to 50mm of rain is expected to fall. The rain will ease by Tuesday morning.
